Lena Weaire
Chief Executive Officer
Lena is our CEO and has a genuine passion for the marine industry. With over 20 of her 37 years in insurance dedicated to underwriting and servicing clients in the marine industry she is ideally suited to lead our business. Although she started her working life as an underwriter for a major insurer, she spent much of her career working for a specialist marine broker, working her way up from an Account Handler to Managing Director.Lena has been described as annoyingly positive and by one of her clients as being able to inject fun into insurance, which is no mean feat! Both attributes sum up her enthusiasm for the industry she works in and fuels her determination to make ProMarine a leading marine specialist provider.When she is not working Lena likes to travel anywhere in the world, preferably on foot!
Simon Griffiths
Chief Operating Officer
Like Lena, Simon shares a passion for the marine industry which makes him ideal to fulfil the role of our Chief Commercial Officer. Simon started his career as an underwriter for a major insurer before joining a specialist marine broker 28 years ago. After several years in a client facing role travelling around the country assisting clients with their marine portfolios, Simon turned his hand to underwriting again, eventually becoming Marine Director. Drawing on the breadth of his experience he is well placed to help grow and diversify our marine offering.Simon thrives on writing new business and client relationships, so he is perfectly matched in his role. He can combine these aspects with a thoughtful and intelligent approach to underwriting, protecting both our clients and insurers alike.Simon is a seriously talented photographer and can often be found out of hours stalking the local wildlife!
Mark Ryan
Chief Underwriting Officer
Mark is our Chief Underwriting Officer, a role he was born to undertake! Whilst Mark has had a varied career in insurance over the last 35 years, he has found his niche in marine underwriting. He has spent the last 16 years working at a specialist marine broker where he established himself as the head of marine underwriting. With a proven track record of profitable underwriting, producing infrastructure and procedural improvements to increase efficiency and profitability, he is the perfect addition to the ProMarine team.Mark considers himself to be the guardian of our binder and is a hard man to convince if he does not believe a risk is suitable for our policy! A very reassuring attribute for our insurers!In his spare time, Mark can turn his hand to just about anything, but his main passions are cars and tech!
Judy Theobald
Client Director
Judy was made for the role of Client Director! She has a passionate interest in people and finds talking to our clients and learning all about their businesses genuinely fascinating. She can often be heard recounting stories of various marine processes that she has learnt about on her travels! Combine this intense interest with over 18 years working for a specialist marine broker and she is ideally suited to protect the interests of our clients.Judy looks after the south of the U.K and relishes life out on the road. The more people she can talk to the more stories she can tell and the more successful she considers her latest adventure. Judy prides herself on delivering the best service possible and is always prepared to go the extra mile and in her case, that is often an exceptionally long way!Judy loves to travel often preferring to walk to ensure she gets the most out of wherever she finds herself.
Jeremy Kinsman
Client Director
Jeremy is one of our Client Directors and is perfectly suited to his role. With over 33 years in insurance, he is extremely experienced and having spent the last 20 years working for a specialist marine broker, he is the ideal representative of our business. He is tasked with looking after the northern part of the U.K from Birmingham to the tip of Shetland and he will find his way to any client within his area. Jeremy has nearly made the art of listening to his clients an art form and is intent on ensuring that this is reflected in the insurance protection they are afforded.Jeremy has spent much of his career looking after Scotland and once said he gets to do the job he loves in one of the most spectacular places he has had the privilege to see! In fact, he loves the area, and one of its residents so much, he decided to move to the Isle of Skye! True dedication!Jeremy is not deterred by the fact that it rains quite a bit on the West coast of Scotland, as he has a keen interest in films and is always able to recommend an enjoyable read!
Hazel
Head of Claims
Hazel joined ProMarine in April 2024 after 40 years working in the insurance industry including the last 25 dedicated to the marine sector within a specialist marine broker. For the last 8 years of her career Hazel has truly found her niche as Head of Claims, predominantly handling delegated claims on behalf of our insurer. She is highly respected by both our insurer and the rest of our team and finds great satisfaction in guiding clients through their claim experience with clarity and care. Outside of work, Hazel can usually be found walking her Labradors, in any weather, lost in a good book, or planning her next adventurous holiday.
Lindsay
Admin & Finance Assistant
Lindsay joined ProMarine in April 2024 with over 23 years of experience in administrative operations and is key to keeping everything running smoothly in the back office. Having worked previously at a specialist marine broker, she is ideally suited to assist our business. Whatever your query you are likely to find yourself speaking to Lindsay at some point and she will be happy to help with any aspect, whatever the issue. In her spare time, Lindsay spends her time with friends and family, especially her much loved granddaughter!
Sue
Finance Assistant
Sue joined ProMarine in April 2024 from a specialist marine broker where she had worked as an Account handler for many years but decided to move across to the finance team 7 years ago. Sue has found her calling in this area and freely admits that numbers are more her thing! She loves nothing more than locating inconsistencies and solving queries making her an essential part of the smooth running of the business. When not at work, Sue loves gardening and most weekends can be found visiting plant nurseries for something unusual. When the weather doesn’t allow, Sue turns her attention to a multitude of art and craft activities.
Matthew
Underwriter
Matt joined ProMarine at the beginning of 2025 after 4 years as a professional footballer. He earned a scholarship with Brighton & Hove Albion and went on to play professional football with a variety of other clubs. This experience instilled discipline, resilience, and a strong team mentality. Matt has been able to capitalise on these attributes since joining ProMarine, quickly being promoted from Claims Assistant to Underwriter. A natural people-person, he takes real pride in building relationships and is always keen to please, a common trait amongst our team so he fits in perfectly! Matt’s positive attitude and drive make him a reliable and approachable presence, and he brings energy and enthusiasm to everything he does. Outside of work, he remains passionate about sport, with a particular interest in football, golf, and tennis.
Dominic
Claims Assistant
Dom joined ProMarine in February 2026 having recently graduated with a LLB Law degree. During his studies, Dom developed a solid foundation in legal principles, alongside an appreciation for the importance of clear communication and attention to detail. These skills translate well into the world of insurance, particularly within his role as Claims Assistant. Dom has settled into the team perfectly, bringing with him a thoughtful and motivated approach, combined with genuine enthusiasm for learning the intricacies of marine insurance. He also shares the rest of the team’s helpful nature! Outside of work, Dom enjoys fishing along the Cornish coast and is a keen badminton player.
